Welcome to Lolar Strength and Performance! I’m your new coach, Eric Lolar.

I am a certified personal trainer with a Master’s of Science in School Leadership and 25 years of coaching experience. I’ve known I wanted to coach since high school. My high school basketball coach Kent Wire had such a profound effect on my life, that I wanted to do the same for people. Then at some point along the way I turned from coaching basketball to coaching performance.
My certificates include:
A Level 1 USA Weightlifting (USAW) Master coach. USAW is the most trusted resource for weightlifting knowledge and education. With this certification, I have practical knowledge and experience with weightlifting techniques, effective coaching, movement assessment, and training programming.
AND
A Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist (FRCms). Many people are not familiar with functional range conditioning (FRC). Can you use your body in the end range of your stretch? Probably not. Mobility is often an overused and misused term—but in its strict sense, and in the context of FRC, it means having active control over your full range of motion.
I use this certification and knowledge to:
- Improve mobility & flexibility
- Improve movement
- Develop stronger and healthier joints
- Improve balance and body control
- Improve athletic performance
- Decrease injury rates
In the last few months of consistent practice, the addition of FRC into my program, and the programs of my clients, has led to new personal records in a variety of strength movements: back squat, bench press, pull-up, overhead press, and deadlift. Yep, this recovery method also leads to huge strength gains!
I have coached in a variety of settings ranging from an Athletic Performance Coach at Eastern Washington University to coaching and teaching PE to middle and high school students. I would describe myself as a “part-whole coach”. I think if your parts (different muscle groups, heart, lungs, etc.) work well then the whole (you!) is healthy. Thats why this functional range conditioning fits me so perfectly. As a personal trainer, I have trained people with a variety of fitness levels and abilities, fitness goals, and ages. I love my clients and have served athletes as young as 14 and athletes with 57 years of life experience!
I love seeing my clients achieve the goals they have for themselves, in fact it is my favorite part about coaching! Some of the common goals set by my clients include:
- Changing their physical appearance and body composition
- Losing weight
- Increasing strength and confidence in the gym
- Reducing chronic pain and discomfort
- Increasing range of motion
- Increasing mental connection to your muscles (Mind-muscle connection)
I will help you gain practical information about weightlifting technique, movement and motor learning using scientifically based concepts to help reach your goals. I will help you safely and effectively learn Olympic level lifting movements no matter your age and current abilities. I pride myself on my ability to quickly correct common technique errors and employ best practices in performance strength training.
